I'm so happy that Vatican problem has been solved... I spent a lot of time trying to find what would be the problem with this f*+** map...
Gratz!!!
It was a funny investigation. The first guesses were hidden in the large texture of the Vatican itself, but the map still flew out, and then I assumed that it could be related to one of the models. So, by trial and error, we found a problematic model of a road sign and I asked paper_boat to help with this, and I'm very grateful that we didn't have to remove this model from the map.
Hi. First of all, English is not my mother language so apologies for any mistakes.
I really appreciate the hardwork you put into this mod. It is very ambitious and creative. Gives the vibe of ww2 years very well. It is a joy to play it!
I already finished it with male malk, now replaying as a gangrel-though I still use the malk skin (editing clandoc) because I like the skin very much (male malk of this mod is like my dream man, lol)
I use an ancient laptop to play this old game, and the base game, clanquest mod, finalnights mod all work flawlessly. (I am too scared to touch antitribu before it gets a major patch) This mod has slowdowns in some places, which is to be expected as the areas seem to be larger and more crowded.
However, the worst slowdowns happen in Paris hub and the train station (after jumping from hospital) . But it is a weird case. In both maps, only looking to a certain direction causes the slowdown, when I turn the other way it is smooth and fast-jarringly so. I am no expert but I suspect it is due to the giant spotlights circling these two maps-whenever I turn to their direction, even if they are not seen on the screen, it causes a noticable lag and slowdown in my system.
I tried to edit the bsp file of paris with the sdk from unoffical patch. I can see all of the street lights and items listed on the map in the bsp edit program, I don't know how to manually delete those giant spotlights from the map. I think I can either delete them from the map file itself, or delete the corresponding spotlight animation/model/material from the installation directory to prevent their animation. If this can solve the slowdown in Paris for me I will be the happiest.
Other noticable slowdown happened in gangrel antitribu fight- I guess that boss uses a skinned Andrei fight from the base game, which is all well and good. But the monster creatures are skinned as spirit wolves and this causes a lag on my system, noticably so when I look at the spirit wolf animations attacking me directly. Which turns a very enjoyable boss fight into frustrating for me. If I can revert the minion monsters to base tsimizce models that can prevent the lag, I think. Which animation/model/material I need to delete from installation folder, or which npc txt file I need to edit so that they use the base tsimizce models? (I know using wolf model is cool for a gangrel, but using tsimizce models is ok on my part if it can solve the problem for me. I can retcon in my head that sabbat allows this guy to use them and he can control them due to his animalistic nature etc.)
In other news the train to Berlin sequence is very unique, original and fun! It never lags or crashes for me, and is a sheer joy to play! It could have been a tad longer or the time limit could have been shorter, I had 4-5 minutes left in the clock when I finished it. But I like it is not frustratingly difficult. A careless player can softlock itself if the timelimit is too severe and restricting if he overrides saves at the wrong time, indeed. (If indeed running out of time causes game over as I suspect)
As you see I have a basic knowledge of modding (one dot in modding, while you seem to have 5 lol) so I wonder if these slowdown problems are solvable on my part. If you can help me with these I think I will make the mod work excellently on my system so I can play it more times! Kudos for such an awesome work.

Hi,
Just few things to optimize a map:
Check the tutorial for optimization basic and advanced from TopHatWhaffle (see the usefull links in the tutorial section) you will get the basics and will earn another dot in Hammer.
You can change the static_prop property: Start Fade / End Fade for those props in long line, that would help a lot, you need to test to have the better settings.
You can add a novis block in the upper part of the map if there is none (I didn't open the map so I don't know).
You can try to use occluder, I have never used them, but maybe they will be efficient, I really don't know, but the texture tool is here.
Use of skip texture to avoid having those props in memory, I know when you start it tend to get tedious and sometimes it is hard to figure out the best solution but try with some easy one, see the tutorial for this.
Well and after you can play a lot, but optimizing is tedious and very time consuming and sometimes you don't see the change.
If you have question don't hesitate, I will be happy to help.

Hello! No problem with the text, I'm also not a native English speaker. XD I know about the Paris hub problem and I've a plan to rebuild this one when I've more time. I want to find old photos and try to recreate the atmosphere of the thirties based on them. Let's see what I can do... But all help is welcome.

Here are some links in French, there might be an English translation in the site but not sure:
wallit thank you for the kind help, I played around with thehammer in the map, I think I was able to find the rotating lights (since it says rotating in the submenu) but I have no idea what to do with it to delete it. Sadly, a single dot in modding is not enough for this for now, and I have no xp (time-energy-effort) right now to raise it. But the youtube channel you said seems very helpful, I will look into it when I have the time.
My second run is fun, I played all day long today. I found more new quests I couldn't do in my first run. Since I allocated my xp points in different skills, it opens up new possibilities, and I am playing with new disciplines as well. This proves the mod has great replayability just like the base-game.
Some notes:
I kept crashing in taina_castle2 map just as I was about to enter the first main chamber where enemy soldiers are. It just kept crashing with %100 possibility at the same location. I disabled ai, then in another try lured and killed the soldiers, they were not the problem. The problem was one single spot in that chamber which I had to go through. Crashlogs always said the same error about accesviolation in some shaderapidx9.
This was super weird since I played this map in my previous run and there was not a single crash! I looked in my game folders to see which I changed. To my surprise, I remembered I have installed TFN mod after finishing Wargames mod for the firs time. I suspected that might have been the case. And yes, TFN mod had changed my vampire.exe and the bin folder. I had a unofficial patch+wargames folder copied in external disc, and when I compared the folders it was obvious. So I swapped the vampire.exe (my working copy is a newer file from 2022, TFN put a different exe from 2018) and bin files from my working copy. And voila! The map never crashed and it was silky smooth playing!
One thing I noticed as well, my character paperdoll in chareditor screen was broken (cubic like ps1 graphics) in my first run, but it was normal in this run-BECAUSE OF TFN's changing bin files! Now with the old bin files and vampire exe, the chareditor screen paperdoll is still broken, but the taine_castle2 map does not crash. Weird, I feel like a scientist blindly discovering things in a new field he has no info about.
And I checked, TFN mod seems to work okay (I use the mod loader from uop) though it may crash in some place I need to do a test run.
Antitribu gangrel fight was not too bad in lag-wise this time. For some reason. Trainstation map was also more bearable this time. There were lags but they were not as severe as my first run in this same laptop. Weird but I am not complaining.
Another thing: I saved one game just infront of the vetenerian's door in Berlin. When I load (in first person) and try to walk to the right the game kept crashing. I loaded the same save and tried for 5 times and it all crashed like that. This was after my sire telling me to go to the final zone of the game (warzone). I loaded a previous save in poland mines and upon my return, I jumped and travelled around the vetenerian's door and raced about the building for multiple times to try it out. No crash occured. Another weird occurance I can't explain. Lesson: do not save just infront of the door about to enter (when the enter icon is on screen) I remember having a similiar crash with a save just infront of another door, as well.
I was able to find the jade crane this time, but I still couldn't find the rat corpse for the vetenerian quest. Found the dog, cat was easy enough, but I couldn't find the rat-looked near garbages, the sewer entrances, etc. A hint would be welcome for the next play through. Also, there is a mysterious building which inside disciplines do not work. There is a door there and the person behind seems to know about vampires, but I couldn't persuade the person. Do I need another quest for this or just raise talky skills more?
In nazi baze final area, near the meal hall...there appears to be a small room with beds, and when I turn the corner there seems to be a machinery there. This place %100 crashes when I turn the corner to see the machinery. I look up to the ceiling and walk by and I can go further this way into there, but I crash again when I touch that machinery. That machinery seems like bugged. IIRC this place has no importance and not necessary to finish the game, but still it seems problematic. Please note that I had crashes in this same area in my very first run, as well.

For a second I thought you played in 5.0 without the last version... anyway, if you think that optimization on this map is really suffering, I can fix it =/ But for me it works okay.
P.S. About nazi base (on the screenshot you posted), perhaps it will be rebuilt in the future if Argikt doesn't mind.
Hi! First of all, thanks for playing, I hope that you're enjoying the mod. Second, please be sure you're on 5.4.0.2 Version, there're a lot of changes from V5... The mod launcher is a good tool, but sometimes, mayor mods use differents bin and config files (both directories are out of the mod, in the main bloodlines folder), overwritting this files could cause weird behaviers in the mods. (I made a subfolder with the bin files of each mod, and overwritten bin before playing), maybe this feature could be added to the launcher to be automatic?
About slows, well, probably most are my fault, my game experience is ussually good, because I invest my money in a good PC (I have no other hobbys than gaming). Anyway, I learned hard way that some bloodlines textures like 3D grass and similar causes a severe slowdown, (you can change fading distance for props, but not for textures), now I try to avoid then in the new maps... maybe other mods and so.
I think war games is very stable now and balanced, of course all can be improved forever.
