I've made a staircase that turns 180 degrees midway up. You can walk up the stairs, but you can't walk down. The cutoff point seems to be just below the midway point of the stairs. Anyone know why its doing this and/or how to fix it? Answer Category: Mapping / Embrace
Ive seen this in my maps for a spiral staircase. And I'll be damned if I cant figure out why! One way works (up or down) but sometimes the opposite direction behaves like their is a break in the geomtry and wont let you walk in that direction. Anyone know this?

If one of your steps in INSIDE another; in other words, if they are not perfectly alligned, then it can cause it.

I had this happen with a ramp of mine that was clipped to another brush.. it turns out that there actually was a break in the "seam" but that I could walk down the ramp, just not back up. Bottom line, go over everything with a fine-toothed comb and make sure that all the geometry is walkable, including the front faces of the stairs, and that nothing overlaps or gaps.
