Spoilers, then? I don't see any other way. But I'll try to be vague when I can. ^^
Bleach Episode 60 (2005)
Holy Hell! That reveal when one character of the Soul Society revealed his treason. This was a punch in the gut. No way I could expect that. The scene was sudden and brutal.
This likely explains the Bleach meme about this character allegedly saying "Just as planned".
Guin Saga Episode 01 (2009)
Blurb: based on a fantasy light novel, this is the story of a guy with a human body and the head of a Leopard. His has lost his memory and is unhumanly strong. I liked the anime.
When Guin wakes up in a forest, sees two kids about to get murdered by soldiers, then:
Guin slowly gets up, makes a terrifying tiger roar, then goes full berserk on the guards, barefisted! That burst of rage, that one scene, is nuts.
Yuyu Hakusho Episode 01 (1992)
So a shonen in which the main character dies on the first episode. This was unusal. I still remember everybody crying at the funeral, especially Kuwabara the supposedly though guy.
If you enjoy tournament animes and have already have watched DBZ, Hunter X Hunter and stuff, then I warmly recommend Yuyu Hakusho. It's an anime which doesn't take you for a mug. And more than everything: it has a Soul. Finally the soundtrack is a joy to listen to. Cherry on the cake, the anime has been remastered on blu ray recently.

"You're too loud, police girl. I don't care if you are a vampire. You're still English; have some manners." (Integra Hellsing, Hellsing Ultimate)
Zabusa's death ruined anime for me. Right when I was starting to enjoy *one* character of this genre of shows, and what he does? He dies. Thus meaning he won't appear no more. So no more anime for me XD
Also, does the anime term not apply to the works of Miyazaki and other more traditional form of animation (even from Japan)?

I don't know for me it apply, like the French comic book, it is so vast that I don't know where it starts where it ends.
I am old school so maybe I am not the best to know how to define it
The coolest battle finish ever! One Piece is amazing. When I was going to pick a profile picture for this site, my gut instinct was "Dracule Mihawk" . His name and aesthetic fit in more ways than one, he would be a great vampire hunter.
