I prefer to not copy what others said, so I'll adhere to my statements:
What kind of edglord, teenager-brain dumbass think that a good name for an ELDER (and a presumably respected one, at that) is Phyre? Seriously! I would laugh at the face of someone that would introduce themselves as something so stupid.
"Hi, I'm Wolface Blackbeard, nice to meet you." "I'm Zhylver, the Rank 4 Werewolf, bane of the Wyrm-corrupted!"
Oh, sure, they can make up an excuse as they wish ("oh, it's actually this and that in this culture, was popular in the 16th century, it means 'dipshit that drinks piss', it's actually very honorable to have that name"), but seriously, WHO APPROVED THAT?
Honestly, if she was nicknamed by SOME Elders as "Red Death" or something like that (a title because of the horrors she inspired) and was instead called something more related to her culture, cool. Cool cool cool. But really?
I agree. Also the colored hair with the modern haircut? This is clearly some teenage fan fiction played out! As far as the lore goes it was explained elsewhere that Phyre's hair would grow back to original length and color each day and she would waste some hours each night having it cut, bleached and colored again .

This is a big point as well to me, or they change the lore so it is not anymore the case.

Although you could argue that Anne Rice has influenced the universe, it has no direct relation to the WoD lore - a vampire is a static image of what it was at the time of Embrace. That's why the only way to change some aspects would be through Vicissitude or some rare Thaumaturgical Rituals.
Obviously you have to color code your hair style to your clan choice!!
Toreadors are blonde of course, and Malkavians get PINK! WACKY!!
I have just noticed that Phyre's hair colors do indeed seem to correspond to the colors the Chinese Room's developers presumably affiliate with each clan, as if to further assure the player that Phyre most certainly belongs to the particular clan of their choice, because they apparently cannot be bothered to make Phyre feel like an Elder of her clan in any deeper or more meaningful way.
This is, by far, the most ridiculous aspect of the game for me personally.
If a fellow player wanted to create an Elder character in my tabletop group called Phyre, I'm almost positive everyone would laugh at their face and explain why that is not acceptable.
Maybe if you are a young neonate I can see it.
It sucks because it feels like I'm complaining about ''wokeness'' and most of the time I think people should express themselves with no restraints, but I believe this is a classic example of how this iconic IP is getting into the wrong hands.
I never found myself in this position in most media topics, but this one is so outrageous it shocks me it is actually happening.
Just give it to Larian Studios and let them have a go at it - let's see someone that may actually not only respect the source material but build off of it's concepts and overall unique aesthetic.
That's why I'll keep using my 20th anniversary edition sourcebooks like the apparently old person I am becoming.

That, and the fact we seemingly are not getting neither the Malkavian nor the Nosferatu playable clans (if there were news about this, I never read about it). That's the other biggest slap on the face for me, personally. Literally two playthroughs that should change the flavor of the game completely and make it highly re-playable.
It does bother me a lot that, so far, it feels like we are victims of a writer or a group of writers that are forcing their own vision and narrative for the story they want to tell, specifically regarding to the protagonist, and leaving the players and true player choice out of the picture.
Damn - I never complained on the internet about something I deeply care about and I'm passionate about. I guess there is a first time for everything.
Sorry, had to vent to people that might get where I'm coming from, and that won't accuse me of being close-minded.
I'm glad I actually payed for this game back in 2019 I think so I can gaslight myself into not feeling the pain of having spent my actual money on a game that might make me mad.
Don't get me wrong - I still want to love this game, desperately.

Hi,
No worries, I feel the same and I believe regarding the comment section of the Bloodlines 2 gameplay trailer we are not alone, so no worries
Here is my rant
I believe that we need to attire the attention of Paradox or Activision.
My dream is to make a WoD game since probably 20 years, I started IT long time ago and I learn java by modding on Redemption during my studdies, I have also learned python modding Bloodlines, well that's 25 years I am doing IT now.
One night I was thinking after seeing Metahuman possibility that maybe I will mod this game, but the reveal of the Tremere ruins everything and that's why I want to make some noise.
There is no character sheet so there won't be skills so there won't be any dialog skills, maybe I am wrong but 6 months before the release I don't see it in the menu, I see outfit in the menu because in 2024, we need to have outfit and can't have an inventory in an rpg......
I don't care about the model even is those are out of touch, having a newer engine it is definitly quicker to integrate new models with all the tools, but the fact that before starting to create a story every thing needs to be implemented: a character sheet, skill checks and change the dialog to integrate those skills is crazy. Just to have the same functionalities has Bloodlines 1.....
Also we don't know how moddable will this be and if we could add new clan/story as basically that kind of screw up the DLC things.
Why those are important, I think that's part of a good rpg and also why Bloodlines was so beloved, because you got choice, you have path and some of them you can't take because you don't have enough point. I have only created the story for one clan for now, but even and the World of Darkness ip helps a lot, you can still have plenty of choice, failure and wrong path (that's why I can't do others, it is really taking a lot of time alone and I have too many introduction), those are important, even the inspection (and I have put quite few in the mod) is important as it reward player that put point in it, not the eagle eye version that has been recycled since Assassin's Creed.
Being able to hack a computer is a great gameplay feature for story, and being able to notice the paper containing the password somewhere is another one and at the end as a Storyteller you can play a lot with those, adding element like email, notes things that make the story and gameplay enjoyable, I don't know if I have achieved this, but I have tried.
I can say things on gameplay, game, story, feature, creating story for hours so I will stop, because I get invested a lot in this since few years now and I love the Wod since at least I am 15 and I will ding 45 in 2 days. Maybe that's the reason, I am thinking like this, getting old you want to at least try to fight even if it is worthless or useless but at least stand your ground, I really don't know but I want to try something.
Paradox is failling, city skyline 2 has a lot of problem, lamplighters ligue is a failure, Harebrained Schemes that make great work on another IP I love shadowrun don't have the licence anymore and have stopped working with them, and I even see an article in a French financial site sometimes ago that was not kind, sure those guys don't understand much the gaming market but still.
I would prefer they delay and improve a lot and add the feature that miss in Bloodlines 1 but they won't do it, all their games on this IP have been rushed, except the graphic novel. Swansong was full of bug and Werewolf was full of emptyness (and I love werewolf I would like to make a story in Bloodlines on it). So I don't see it happening, I think they want to release for the 20th anniversary of Bloodlines and try to take profit of some hype. But if someone from Paradox would like to discuss, I have some ideas, I do it for free and I think a lot of us are willing to help.
If it release like this I will still buy it, play it and if possible stream it so people could judge before buying it.
And my first playthrough will be an assamite just to see the story and what is going to be and I hope the story is the strong point.
If someone from Paradox just read this => If something don't change that's going to be a bloodbath that even a shovelhead just emerging from the grave and entering in a nursery full of babies, will look like Alice in Wonderland in comparison and I guess that's your publisher responsability, for christsake look at the comment section and like/dislike ratio.
I am fucking tempted to buy stocks just to have a saying in the shareholder meeting and asking why such failure is going to happen.
I see now as only solution the fact that we will release mods this year and probably get better audience/reception than the second opus released by Paradox as we are all putting a lot of heart/passion/time in it, I try my best but I know the other do the same. We might ensure the success of our mods by QA them a lot, creating trailers, making some noise on social media, well ashamed them.
Maybe Activision will finally figure out something, I don't know maybe they can change the engine, add new functionalities, implement the multiplayer without touching all ip stuff, the community will do by itself.
I don't need someone adding clan for me, I need someone change the engine so it is easy to do it, I need someone changing the engine so we could add discipline easily, I need someone changing the engine so we could increase the numbers of items and we won't have to jungle with it, I need someone to change the engine so we could use all those tools available on internet to import new models, item, prop.
I need someone to change the engine so I could create a DA story, a werewolf story and have other people creating theirs stories.
Well there is plenty of stuff, but even if Activision won't do it, Bloodlines have already more functionalities for a storyteller than what's to come.
It take times but it is still possible.
That's it, I am sad as the World of Darness deserve better, yes something like Larian, but for sure someone that is interested in this World, that love it and recognize that this World has a lot of potential. I am not sure that I will feel better, but it will avoid creating a rant video that no one will care, so at least I will advance on the mod.

Enjoy your day !!
If you are so passionate about it, you should! I think making noise in a constructive way is always good for discussions. But trying to fix the game is also great - although you shouldn't have to, it should ship the way we fans and consumers would like.
