Didn't get past episode 1 I hope the incoming VtM/WoD show (announced a few years back) will be any good. Or that they didn't thrown this project too....
Agreed, I liked the early True Blood episodes up until like, the Fairy Arc.
I finished Kindred: The Embraced! The whole 8 episodes are on youtube. It's like, super cheesy. The prince of San Francisco also just makes incredibly dubious choices throughout the whole show and breaks the Masquerade on 3-4 separate occasions. He also is way too lenient with the Brujah primogen. The writing isn't the greatest, and the plot holes are very apparent, but I still enjoyed watching them overall. It's a shame that the lead actor passed away soon after filming.
All in all, it's entertaining, but it's also got its fair share of flaws. It tries its best!
I actually enjoyed it, though it certainly is very cheesy lol. I think I've watched through 3 or 4 times, but what I can say.. I'm a sucker for anything VtM.
One of my favourite moments is when the Nosferatu character keeps going on about how ugly he is.. and yet he's mostly just pale and bald lol.
I genuinely think this tv series was a little misguided and they didn't have the budget or interest to really see it through. It feels like the only reason they greenlit it was due to how popular vampire media was getting back in the 1990s so they were just greenlighting anything to see what stuck.
Part of it is that Vampire the Masquerade is very derivative of a lot of other famous pieces of vampire related media. (Interview with a Vampire, The Lost Boys, Nosferatu etc). So it's very easy to just take what is popular and just add "the masquerade". The more interesting things like the clan differences/weaknesses or the nuances between the anarchs/camarilla/sabbat are never brought up.
It does feel generic, but I still want to watch itt someday. Like it was previously mentioned in the thread - I am a sucker for the franchise and I think it would be amusing.
I am used to watching old, low-budget, slow-paced etc. movies, so I'm very resilient when it comes to that stuff - but I hate watching stuff alone, unless its something very highly specific that I know I won't find a soul in the world that cares to watch with me.
