Hello fellow campers I thought I'd stick a few Blender Model editing vids together Today so anybody that fancy's a play around that feels daunted can get little insight. Not the most polished but will cover the basic of import edit export with a couple of tips.

The Vids contain import/export script setup in Blender. Import, edit, export of a model. .x/vpk Extraction regarding .mdl

What this will help you do is edit Jeanette's Model to give her no skirt and a Ponytail.

Also I managed to use newest blender to rig my model and import it into this old blender included in the SDK, for some reason though, when I try to export my character like in the video using the Bloodlines_ALL (.x) format blender throws an error saying vertices of the model doesnt match blender's vertices , any idea how to fix this?

No, There isn't any import/export script for 2.81 or higher. The video's will teach you how to use it and if you use 2.42 in the sdk I suggest using 2.47 from this thread at least or 2.49b

No rigging. No adding or removing verts/faces/edges. No subdivision. No animations etc.

You fix it by not doing stuff that breaks it. You can be altering a model without deleting stuff can still result in a doesnt match error on export so save frequently to stage1, stage2 blend etc. Export frequently to check. You save less frequent as time goes on.

I'm not getting into a big conversation about this. I'm not supporting this at all.

Noticed when setting up Blender 2.47 that the import-export scripts linked here seem to be older than what is included in the latest version of the Unofficial SDK. The SDK comes with Blender 2.43, and, at least for UV mapping, 2.43 is harder to work with than 2.47. But anyway. Here are the scripts from the SDK. (These are from [...]Bloodlines SDK\SDKBinaries\tools\Blender\Blender\.blender\scripts\).

Thanks for updating the thread ilex as I don't support it. Appreciated.

Only thing I can add is that you'd likely get away with using blender-2.49b instead of 2.47, but I've only used 2.49b on a few occasions.

I had no issues, but..

Edit: I think 2.47 should be SDK standard but I have said that years back.

Yes, I do. I haven't delved into issues of this topic yet (nor have I visited the U.patch topic) - but I remember that I didn't include later versions of Blender because of the unreasonably high program size. I don't want to distribute the SDK in which only one program takes up half the capacity. I think that those who want, could update the Blender themselves, just overwritting the old files. But I'll relook at version 2.47 - maybe it's not that bad. I have an unreleased SDK version 2.01 on my disk, so maybe I would have made an update on the forum then...

By the way, I don't understand why the Topic tutorial suggests downloading and configuring individual utilities (especially obsolete VampEd) and scripts along with SDK, while the latest SDKs already includes everything listed, in already tuned and pre-configured way. The way described here, greatly complicates the initial user setup and, in fact, reinventing the bike

Exactly, why I used Vamped. I didn't reinvent the wheel, so I have no issues whatsoever continuing to use it. People can chose to use packfile explorer if they choose.

This Topic was made when I had done nothing since 2012/13 and disappearing for many years. When installing SDK at time of making these(mid 2019), the SDK menu wouldn't pop up to select said programs(WIN 7 pro) with other issues, so couldn't see how I could go in that direction. This way I could guarantee that I, myself, could complete the videos.

That being said it seems to coincide(menu) with issue like Crowbar not working as intended with affected systems(WIN 10 Pro) I've had of late. Its strange these 2 things always seem to happen together. But, I have 2 systems at this moment with zero issues, whatsoever.

Strange, indeed.

Edit: Add Blender 2.47 to your SDK or Not. That's your call

At least, the SDK is included into the Unofficial Patch, which is really big in size for now. But as I said, I'm still looking for chance with version 2.47. Unlike version 2.43, version 2.47 carries with it a bunch of libraries for video editing, which take up about 20 MB themselves and are totally unneeded for modeling, even more so for Bloodlines. I try to do something with that. But even if no, your suggestion on adding info on how to update sounds good! I think I can even add the update script, so it might be do automatically for those who want

Can you please tell which issues on these programs happen on your side with the current SDK v2.00 setup (where all scripts and Crowbar are integrated and tuned)? It would be important to me to fix it...

UPD: You may be happy, MooCHa - I was able to reduce Blender 2.47 just to 14 mb filesize (even smaller than 2.43 was) by debloating some trash stuff - so it will be included into the next Bloodlines SDK update (as well as all Vtmb i/e-scripts)! Now please tell, what's wrong with the Crowbar on your system - I'll try to find and fix that...

Nice on the 2.47 inclusion

I wouldn't trouble yourself with the Crowbar issue.

First thing I will say that on this 5950X PC. I have installed it twice. Once before a format full win 10 pro fully updated and also installed crowbar on a full clean Win 10 Pro fully updated and same issue persists. Fresh Bloodlines/ SDK install.

It decompiles fine, but when compiling it throws an error. I have tested the exact same model files and .qc on other PC 5800X3D transferred via USB stick, and it compiled fine. My 7th Gen intel laptop compiles fine, too.

Also, on this 5950X in the dropdown where you normally have 2 options Bloodlines and Alien Swarm. I have a long list of source games in the dropdown. I also transferred the crowbar setting.xml file located in appdata folder under zeqmacaw from working PC to this one and edited it a little if I remember correctly. But no joy.

I even went as far to use the actual Alien Swarm SDK just as a last ditch test and obviously it will say wrong version in game, but it did actually compile something. The paths to all of the list of games in the dropdown seems to have paths that resolves to steamapps in the settings.xml

<GamePathFileName><library1>\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\gameinfo.txt</GamePathFileName>

"F:\Games 2\PC Games Other\VtMB\ is the exact same install location over 2 PC's and 1 Laptop. so all have exact same paths for SDK etc but that was due to trying to get to bottom of it, so wanted it exact for ease.

There is a bit more info in the MDL formatter thread, but not much more. One thing is that on the non working system I click on SDK to launch it so you can select which tools you want to use and it never launches. This happened on my old i7-3770k too years ago.

Tools like hammer, BSPSource etc all work fine when I just open from there SDK tools directory. Maybe, this is not or not related as the menu not appearing only happens with same install that crowbar doesn't compile.

The only thing that the i7 and this PC that both have Asus motherboards, but clutching at straws as started to think it was hardware.

I don't really know what else to say. Maybe, I missed something from other thread.

Java doesn't needed for SDK at all, except running two map tools, like BSPSource or EntSpy. So this is some different issues...

Can you be more specific about that compiling errors? Like showing compile logs or screenshot with error itself...

That seems to be the problem. The built-in Crowbar auto-configure script is not working for you for some reason. Do you happen to have a parallel installation of another version of Crowbar on that PC? And do you always launch the program from the SDK menu, and not manually from the SDKBinaries\tools\Crowbar folder? Try to remove the file "ProjectDir.ini" in that location, and re-launch from the SDK menu. Also, which folder for Crowbar exist in your %AppData%\ZecMacaw\ folder? It must be "CroVtmb", not "Crowbar". I hope you didn't update Crowbar.exe with later versions, because it's contraindicated.

The SDK has a kind of self-diagnosis, so please check if you have the "sdk_errors.log" file in the SDK root folder. If there is, please copy its contents to your post. I'm worried about all this because it says that the current SDK may not be universal in terms of OS compatibility. It is against my rules to produce non-universal products %).

I did have a parallel installation prior to reinstalling the OS clean the other month back, and I did think this may be a cause, But after that fresh win 10 pro install from a full format, I only tried one bloodlines/ SDK install only after this and same issue continued. Also, all of my systems are on win 10 pro. I could only manually use CroVtmb on this system as no menu to launch it.

I haven't used any other version of crowbar(CroVtmb) except what has been provided via the SDK ever. I have never updated it. It was CroVtmb that made the %AppData%\ZecMacaw\ folder.

I have fully reinstalled a fresh Copy of Bloodlines last night and installed the latest UP RC. I used Revo uninstaller for most part and looked for any rogue registry entires that may still have existed. I have also wiped the %AppData%\ZecMacaw\ folder but I haven't tried to install anything SDK wise as was wiating for your reply.

I will install now and produce the error log as wiping the last install last night means I do not have it. I do not remember one being present as I'd have looked at it.

Installing now..

Ok I installed SDK and said all at end after extracting assets etc that fully configured etc, but once I click on Bloodlines SDK.exe or a shortcut I make. It doesn't launch the menu system. I tried this with and without admin Privileges. Also, I'm not seeing a sdk_errors.log and have searched the full install visually and via windows search. This same issue happens whether I use vampire folder or own mod folder when install SDK.

I haven't manually click on crowVtmb as of yet as I know that outcome, and rather wait for now.

Edit:

I click on CroVtmb and same issue and all of those games in list again.

I don't have an error log as didn't keep it from last night, but I could see the point of that if it was happening on my working compiler PC's and All it did say was look above for errors and had no info in CroVtmb compile log window on app. The only reason I could try compile last time was as I explain I replaced CroVTmb settings file and forced a failed compile via using Alien Swarm SDK as a test like I mentioned above.. Maybe, there is a screenshot with error in the MDL formatter thread. I'll look now.

I had a look, but no screenshot that says it failed with this issue.
